Meet the Directors
Miss Stephanie (BA, BEd., MA)
Dance School Director
Miss Stephanie began her study of dance over 30 years ago. She has a knowledge of both classical ballet (Vaganova) and Ukrainian dance technique. She began choreographing and teaching dances at a very young age and at the age of the 15 had received her first award for original choreography. She continues to search for new and innovative ways for children to express themselves through dance. Her favorite classes to teach are Small & Tall and Preschool dance!
Miss Stephanie is mom to a 4.5 year old son and twin 21 month old daughters – all aspiring dancers. During the day she works as an Early Literacy teacher at a local independent school.
Miss Vanessa, Dance School Director (BA (Dance) & BEd.)
Dance School Director
Miss Vanessa brings with her over 20 years of dance experience. She has received extensive training in ballet (RAD, ISTD, Cecchetti, Vaganova), lyrical, jazz, contemporary, and Ukrainian dance. Miss Vanessa completed her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Dance (Ballet Major) at the University of Calgary. Her studies included the anatomy, psychology, and history of dance as well as music for dance. Miss Vanessa is working towards her Associates Teaching Exam.
Miss Vanessa has been teaching dance to children of all ages at various dance schools in Calgary for the past 10 years. She has a creative passion for dance as well as for teaching. In the past she taught with Three Left Feet Movement Creations as a dance teacher.
Miss Vanessa is a middle school dance and humanities teacher with the Calgary Board of Education, and has an adorable 19 month old daughter, who loves to “bust a move” with her mama!

Miss Jenna has over 18 years of dance experience. She has a vast knowledge of Ukrainian dance, as well as ballet and lyrical dance. Miss Jenna has worked closely with children of all ages as a City of Calgary employee for the past 6 years, including teaching children’s dance. She has been with the studio since the beginning and has taken on many leadership roles as well as instructing students over the past few years. When she is not in the office, you will find her delivering babies as a Labour & Delivery nurse at Foothills Medical Centre
Miss Natalka (BA – Fine Arts – Dance, Associate ACSC-CICB.)

Natalka Lewis is a dance artist and chore0grapher based out of Calgary, Alberta. Natalka trained at several studios in Calgary before being accepted into the BA dance program at the University of Calgary in the ballet stream. She trained at the prestigious School of Alberta Ballet under Nancy and Murray Kilgour, Joyce Shietze, Aram Manukyan and Ashley Miller, among others. While at the University of Calgary Natalka performed in many in school and professional shows and received training from and participated in classes/workshops from renowned dance artists such as Davida Monk, Melissa Monteros, Tania Alvarado, Beniot Swan Pouffer, Wen Wei Wang, Noam Gagnon, Peggy Baker, Bernard H. Gaddis and Marc Boivin. Natalka holds her Associate teaching certifications with the Cecchetti Ballet Society of Canada. Natalka continues to move forward within the Cecchetti Society of Canada and continues to train under the tutelage of Order of Canada recipient, Nancy Kilgour.
Natalka’s dance career has taken her across Canada and the US to train, perform, choreograph, adjudicate and teach. In 2010 she helped to create a dance collective called Momentum Dance Collective, and in 2013 founded Trip the Light Dance & Performance Company with which she now hold the position of Artistic Director. A few of Natalka’s most recent professional performance credits include dancing as a company member with Corps Bara Dance Theatre, Canadian Olympic Committee (Dancer for ANDEE & BRETT KISSEL), Trip the Light Dance and Performance Co, Canadian Space Society, Fuze Entertainment, GMC Canada, Momentum Dance Collective, 49th Parallel Dance Company, High Performance Rodeo, La Caravan Dance Theatre, Soulocentric, Dancers’ Studio West, Good Women Dance Collective and Ignite.
Ms. Kyla (BA – Dance)
Teacher (Preschool dance, Jazz, Contemporary, Performance Division)
Ms. Kyla was born and raised in beautiful British Columbia. At an early age, she had the opportunity to work with such choreographers as David Earle, Joe Laughlin and Crystal Pite. Ms. Kyla moved to Winnipeg to attend the Senior Professional Program of the School of Contemporary Dancers, where she earned her BA (Hon) through the affiliation with the University of Winnipeg. She has apprenticed with the Bill Evans Dance Company in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and had the privilege of working with Winnipeg choreographer Paula Blair on 4 productions. Ms. Kyla has been a guest performer with Winnipeg’s Contemporary Dancers, performing works by WCD Founder Rachel Browne and Artistic Director Brent Lott. As a Company Member with NAfro Dance Productions in Winnipeg, Ms. Kyla had the honour of performing in 10 productions over 5 years, and toured throughout Manitoba and to Toronto with the Company. Most recently, she was a Company Member with Corps Bara’s Project Company for 2 years. Ms. Kyla has choreographed for both Corps Bara’s Youth Company and Project Company, and the Alberta Dance Theatre for Young People. As well as being Corps Bara’s Company Manager for 2 years, Ms. Kyla had the pleasure of adding the role of Rehearsal Director for the Project Company this past year. Ms. Kyla is very excited to be starting her fourth year teaching at Evolutions School of Dance, working with such amazing dancers!
Teacher (Tap, Jazz, Performance Division)
Stephanie has been dancing from the age of 4 yrs old at the former Hanson School of Dance in Kindersley, SK where she grew up. During her years at that studio she achieved her ADAPT Advanced Jazz, RAD Intermediate Ballet and Gr. 8 Ballet, CDTA Advanced Tap and Jazz. During those years she also studied voice and piano and achieved her RCM Gr. 8 in Piano and Gr. 7 Voice.
Stephanie attended Grant MacEwan’s Theatre Arts program and received a Diploma in Musical Theatre studies. After completing college she moved from Edmonton to Calgary to study for a year under the jazz style instruction of Decidedly Jazz Danceworks in their Pre-Professional Program. After her training with DJD she went on to achieve her ADAPT Teachers Certification in Jazz and Tap. Since then Stephanie has had the opportunity to teach for different dance studios in Calgary and perform at various events with different dance groups over the years.
Stephanie hopes to share her passion of dance and performing with the students she teaches and to always have fun and keep on learning.

Miss Reanna started her dance journey at the age of 4, training in Ukrainian/National dance here in Calgary.
In 2007 she began training at Evolutions and has built up a knowledge of both ISTD and Cecchetti classical ballet, Ukrainian, Jazz, Lyrical and Contemporary dance.
She has since completed her standard 6 Cecchetti exam, and is currently training for her Senior Certificate in Cecchetti with Miss Natalka.
As an active member of the ESD Competitive Performance Division Team, she has competed in many dance competitions in Southern Alberta, as well as has performed various main character roles in ESD productions, such as Dorothy in Wizard of Oz.
She has completed the ESD Student Instructor training program, working alongside ESD’s experienced faculty and directors, and is eager to take on the role of teacher with her own classes!
Miss Reanna is excited to spend another year with the ESD dance family!
Teacher (Pre-school dance, Teen classes)
Miss. Karissa has 13 years of dance experience. Starting her training in Ukrainian dance, she now has knowledge of Ukrainian dance, jazz, Lyrical, contemporary, and ballet (both ISTD and Cecchetti). She has also been a proud member of the Evolutions Performance Division Competitive Team. She is now working towards her Cecchetti Ballet Senior Certificate.
Miss Karissa has been student teaching for four years, helping to teach and influence preschool and junior level dancers, and is excited to be teaching her own classes! Miss Karissa is also a member of our administrative team here at Evolutions School of Dance.
She can’t wait to give the students an opportunity to learn skills that they can use for years to come, and is excited to bring her passionate love of dance to the students of ESD!
Teacher (Lyrical, Hip Hop)
Born and raised in St. Catharines,Ontario, Ashley has been dancing for most of her life. Competing and performing growing up she also started teaching and assisting at the age of 16 at her mother’s studio. In 2004 she travelled to Reisa, Germany with the Canadian National Tap Team, Orlando, FL with the Canadian National Jazz Team and then spent two consecutive summers training with Be Discovered at Millennium Dance Complex.
In 2006 she was accepted to York University’s BFA Dance Program. After that she found herself in the Commercial Dance Program at George Brown College studying dance, vocal and theory and acting. A founding member of Artist’s In Motion she has since performed in various shows, videos and festivals in Toronto such as The Kuumba and Fringe Festivals.
In 2009 she relocated to Calgary to study with Decidedly Jazz Danceworks. She then taught of the School of Decidedly Jazz, various studios and women’s help groups as well as at risk children’s after school programs. Performing regularly with ILLFX Entertainment and the Groove Academy she then decided to return to Toronto.
Credits since have included performing at Culture Shock Washington, D.C., the Dubai Shopping Festival with CMart Worldwide and choreographed by Hollywood Jade, Choreographer’s Ball in pieces by Esie Mensah (Black Stars), Leah Totten (BOSS) and Shameka Blake (AIM) and the 2013 Much Music Video Awards with PSY.
Ashley has always loved teaching and has chosen to focus on that area of her dance career. In the summer of 2014 she travelled to Spain and received her RYS200 HR Yoga Teacher Training. Upon completion she took a week long teaching residency at Memories Splash Resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
Ashley is a well rounded dancer and teacher in the styles of jazz, contemporary, tap, ballet and hip hop. She is now the Army of Sass City Leader for Calgary and also studying Yoga Therapy at Mount Royal University.
Teacher (Preschool dance)
Miss Natasha brings with her 18 years of dance experience. Since the age of 3, she has been training in ballet and Ukrainian dance. She has completed R.A.D ballet exams Primary to Grade 8, as well as vocational exams Intermediate Foundation to Advanced 2 under the instruction of Julie Pratt of Fun’n’Dance. Miss Natasha has been teaching ballet, Ukrainian and lyrical for the past 6 years, and has loved every moment. She is now studying to receive her Bachelor of Communications degree in Operations Management at the University of Calgary, and is minoring in dance. She is also a member of the Tryzub Ukrainian Dance Ensemble here in Calgary.
Miss Natasha was a part of Evolutions School of Dance at its inception, and after a few years away is very excited to be back.
